Panel on Sexual Harassment in Medicine Convened
Check out the recent panel on sexual harassment in medicine (video link below)! Panelists included CBSSM's Reshma Jagsi and Tim R.B. Johnson, as well as Paula Johnson, president of Wellesley College and moderator, Anna Kirkland, Director of IRWG.
A recent report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine identified the causes and impacts of sexual harassment — and offered recommendations for institutional policies, strategies, and practices to address and prevent it.
Academic sciences, engineering and medicine share characteristics that create conditions for harassment. Such environments can silence and limit the career opportunities for both the targets of the sexual harassment and bystanders, causing both men and women to leave their fields.
An panel discussion took a closer look at this subject and reflected on progress being made at U-M in relation to the report.
