Rachel Brownson serves as a staff clinical ethicist for CBSSM and as a chaplain for the Stepping Stones Pediatric Palliative Care Program at Michigan Medicine. She has previously served as primary chaplain on Michigan Medicine’s pediatric intensive care and cardiothoracic units, pediatric oncology unit, and as an on-call chaplain covering both adult and pediatric hospitals, as well as serving as vice-chair of the hospital’s Pediatric Ethics Committee. She is board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains, and trained in adult and pediatric spiritual care at Albany Medical Center. She has her MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College, MDiv from Western Theological Seminary, and BA from Hope College, and is ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
