Study finds that expanding Medicaid means health problems get found and health improves. Among those with common chronic diseases, 42% said they got diagnosed after enrolling in expanded Medicaid. Lead author, Ann-Marie Rosland, MD, MS worked with CBSSM's Susan Goold, MD, MHSA, MA and Jeffrey Kullgren, MD, MS, MPH and others carrying out an official evaluation of the Healthy Michigan Plan.

Lauren Smith is on the cover of Michigan Medicine celebrating women in medicine.  Dr. Smith was a Chair of the Michigan State Medical Society's bioethics committee and Chair of the annual ethics conference. Congratulations!


Geoffrey Barnes is a cardiologist and a vascular medicine specialist at Michigan Medicine, and a health services researcher who studies health system design and how to improve the safety of medication care. His work is highlighted in a recent IHPI profile and video.

Timothy RB Johnson and Kayte Spector-Bagdady were recently interviewed about a proposed behavioral economics study of female genital multilation in Kenya. The study has been rejected four times by UCSD due, in part, to ethical concerns.
