Mind the Gap: Examining the Impact of False Positive Results in Newborn Screening
Abstract: While newborn screening (NBS) programs have saved the lives of thousands of children with inherited disorders, our knowledge of the benefits of NBS far outstrip our understanding of the harms. Dr. Tarini will discuss this evidence gap and her current study to examine the scope, magnitude, and risk factors for harms to children who receive false positive NBS results and to their families.
