Dr. Janet Childerhose was a CBSSM Postdoctoral Research Fellow, 2013-2015. She is a medical anthropologist (PhD, McGill University 2010) with training in the history and philosophy of science and technology (MA, University of Toronto 2004-2006). Before coming to CBSSM, she worked in nursing research at The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (2009-2013). Her research examines bariatric surgery for adolescents, and genomic sequencing of tumors in children with end-stage cancer.

Valerie joined CBSSM as the Center Manager in the fall of 2012 after working as a Project Manager at CBSSM since 2009. Valerie continues her work on research projects involving medical decision making and doctor-patient communication. Valerie received her MPH in Health Behavior Health Education from the University of Michigan.
Chris Krenz joined CBSSM in the fall of 2014. He received his BA in Sociology from the University of Michigan, minoring in Philosophy. Before coming to CBSSM, Chris was located at the Institute for Social Research, working on projects concerning the health of Pacific Islanders and other minority populations.
Chris primarily works with Dr. Raymond De Vries on a study exploring factors that influence whether biobank donors provide consent for their biological material to be used in research.
Dr. Melissa Constantine, PhD was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, CBSSM, 2011-2013.
Tolu joined CBSSM in September 2012 as a graduate work study student then transitioned into a full-time Research Area Specialist Associate from August 2015 to May 2017. She received her joint Master’s in Social Work and Urban Planning from the University of Michigan. The bulk of her work at CBSSM includes assisting Dr. Susan Goold on an evaluation of the Healthy Michigan Plan (Michigan’s Medicaid Expansion).
Megan joined CBSSM in 2014 and has worked on multiple grant funded research projects related to health communication, patient-provider decision making, and health interventions driven by behavioral economics. She currently works with Dr. Brian Zikmund-Fisher on a National Science Foundation grant testing infectious disease communication strategies.
Maryn joined CBSSM in June 2018. She works with Dr. Susan Goold and community partners to evaluate impacts of Michigan's expanded Medicaid program. She also uses deliberative methods to engage community members in setting priorities for community health.
Maryn received her BA in Russian Literature and Women's Studies from Beloit College and her MPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining CBSSM, she worked as a qualitative Research Associate for various projects across the university.
Dr. Scherer was a VA and CBSSM Postdoctoral Research Fellow, 2010-2012. She received her PhD in social psychology in 2010 from Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Scherer is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri.
Kerry Ryan joined CBSSM in July 2010. Kerry has a BA in History (Kalamazoo College) and MA in Sociology (University of Michigan). Before joining CBSSM, Kerry worked as a research assistant and an academic advisor. She has been involved with research related to the effects of community violence and prenatal cocaine exposure; college student academic success and retention; at-risk women’s child-bearing decisions in the context of genetic testing and discrimination; surrogate consent for research; and therapeutic misconception.
