David Sandberg was recently quoted in BuzzFeed article, "A Landmark Lawsuit About An Intersex Baby’s Genital Surgery Just Settled For $440,000." Dr. Sandberg is the coinvestigator of a research initiative across several hospitals to try to better understand outcomes of patients with differences of sexual development.

Sarah Hawley and co-authors, David Miller and Megan Haymart, recently discussed their New England Journal of Medicine perspective piece, "Active Surveillance for Low-Risk Cancers — A Viable Solution to Overtreatment?" in an MHealth Lab interview. They discuss whether active surveillance — close monitoring without immediate treatment — could reduce overtreatment for some thyroid, prostate and breast cancer patients.

Jodyn Platt, MPH, PhD, Assistant Professor of Learning Health Sciences, has been named a University of Chicago MacLean Fellow.

A study by current and former CBSSM faculty and staff was recently highlighted in Horsetalk (NZ). Angela Fagerlin, Thomas Valley, Aaron Scherer, Megan Knaus, Enny Das, and Brian J. Zikmund-Fisher were co-authors on an international study looking at the impact of flu labels (including "Horse Flu" and "Yarramin Flu") and graphics on risk perceptions and behavioral intentions.

Jeffrey Kullgren was recently interviewed for the Spotlight on Career Development Awardees in the the VA Office of Research and Development Quarterly Update.
