The University of Michigan School of Public Health has received federal funding to launch an integrated, interdisciplinary fellowship program that will provide training in the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomic science.

Led by Scott Roberts, professor of health behavior and health education at Michigan Public Health, the ELSI Research Training Program is funded by a T32 training grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Human Genome Research Institute and will launch in fall 2018.

Naomi Laventhal was recently accepted as a member into the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR). The mission of SPR is to create a network of multi-disciplinary researchers to improve child health.

Congratulations to CBSSM faculty who were recently promoted! Naomi Laventhal & Christian Vercler were both promoted to clinical associate professor. Lauren Smith and Wendy Uhlmann were promoted to clinical professor. Scott Roberts was promoted to professor of health behavior and health education with tenure.

Reshma Jagsi, M.D., D.Phil. and Andrew Barnosky, D.O., M.P.H. were recognized by Michigan Medicine faculty for two distinct awards.

Lauren Smith recently published, "Doctor in the Family: Stories and Dilemmas Surrounding Illness in Relatives" in Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics as the symposium editor for the Spring 2018 issue.
