CBSSM faculty, Andrew Shuman (PI), Susan Goold, Janice Firn, and Reshma Jagsi (Co-Is) recently received a BCBSM Foundation Investigator Initiated Research Grant. Their proposed research aims to examine how hospitals in Michigan currently handle drug shortages, to find and describe best practices, and to propose a resource for real-time communication and collaboration across statewide institutions in order to most effectively provide care when resources are strained.

CBSSM is co-sponsoring 2nd Annual Association of Bioethics Program Directors’ Professional Development Workshop to be held Wednesday, October 17th before the ASBH Annual meeting. The focus will be on the increasing personal awareness of leadership styles and approaches to allow us be more effective and satisfied at work and at home. This workshop substantially subsidized by ABPD and 14 institutional sponsors.

Joel Howell was honored by the American College of Physicians (ACP) at its annual convocation ceremony in April. Howell was named a new Master of the American College of Physicians for 2017-2018.

Dr. Michele Heisler is one of seven faculty members honored with the 2018 Distinguished Clinical and Translational Research Mentor Award. Congratulations!
